Narnia

Hi,  I hope you all had a nice afternoon and kept warm! Which character in Narnia is your favourite and why? I like the beavers best as they are really cute, funny and even when they are in trouble they stay optimistic! How about you?

Reading – not for a test but for fun!!

Hi, Happy Friday!

In the English room there are a variety of books which you are free to come and read (at school or at home).  There are easy books and some which have CDs and more difficult books if you want to challenge yourself!  You can read books by Roald Dahl, a famous English writer who wrote many books including Charlie and the Chocolate factory.  I read all of his books when I was younger and I highly recommend them.  There are also crime books, romance novels and many more genres (types of books).

I know you all have exams coming up again soon but when these are over why not come and take a book and have a go at reading for fun.  I remember the first time I read a whole book in Spanish I was really pleased with myself.  It wasn’t easy and at first it was really quite difficult but as I read more it got easier and I started to learn more and more words.  So come and ask me to help you choose a book and get reading!

3 days until the Olympics!

These are the Olympics mascots, what do you think of them? I think they are a little bit weird!

Anyway, the Olympics opening ceremony is on Friday night (9pm English time) 5am Saturday Korean time.  I don’t think I’ll stay up or get up early so I’ll have to watch a repeat on Saturday morning.

If you watch the opening ceremony let me know what you think?

Also, who do you think will win a medal for Korea?

Expression of the week –

Well I have had a very peaceful 3 days while you have been on your field trips. I hope you enjoyed the trips (and you had more than one bathroom – grade 3 students!?)

This week’s expression is – to go out of your way

If you go out of your way, you take particular care or make a special effort when doing something for someone.

For example:     The teachers at Dong Pyeong school went out of their way to make me feel welcome when I arrived in Korea. (they made a special effort and did many nice things for me so I felt comfortable).

When was the last time someone went out of their way for you OR you went out of your way to do something for someone?

Thursday 12th Jan

I feel very proud and happy today because all of the winter camp students worked really hard to make 2 great documentaries, I hope they are proud of them as they are fantastic.

I’m also really excited because this time next week (Thurs 19th) I will be on my way back to England! I can’t wait to see all my friends and family.  But I’ll also be a bit sad as winter camp will be over and I’ve really enjoyed it.
